Ben Forsyth despre participarea sa la Red Bull Romaniacs 2014
“The long journey home is now complete. In total, over 60 hours were spent traveling to and from for this crazy adventure. While time in the air is never fun, it does give you the luxury of time to reflect. What a ride the last week has been. Never have I been so focused, exhausted, elated, disappointed and at times, downright frightened, in all my life. This race was a long standing ambition and one that I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to do. It pushed me well beyond what I thought I was capable of. There were times that I was so broken and didn’t think that I could go any further, but somehow found just enough to get to the end of each day. While the results are yet to be announced for Silver class, my goal of making it to the end was achieved. And that couldn’t have been done without the support of each of you along the way.Special thanks go to our sponsors that played a critical part in getting us to the start line. To Wayne Cottee and Paul Cassar at REDiNK solutions for making us the best looking team in the paddock. To Brian Finn at Force Accessories, your protection gear performed flawlessly in a very harsh environment. To Luke at Ringmaster Images Pty/Ltd for making the bikes look like a full factory team. To Andrew Kregting and M2R Helmets, for looking after my melon. To John Rickman FunnelWeb Filter for keeping the bikes breathing even when I couldn’t. The stubby holders went down a treat with everyone we gave them out to as well. To Grant Sammut at Ron Angel Imports – the Tender Batteries kept the bike cranking for the entire event with no fuss. If I hit the starter once, I reckon I hit it over a thousand times overt the 5 days and it spun up every time and the AFAM sprockets took care of getting the power to the ground. Greg Barber at Kriega Australia, who supplied me with tugger straps and the fantastic R8 waist pack.To Jeff Leisk at KTM Australia and Christoph Haslinger at KTM Austria who made getting the bikes to the start line possible. The 250EXC was the perfect bike for the job and never missed a beat for the race, despite the mistreatment that it received!
To our crew from Top Cross TCS. Adrian Raduta and the boys did an exceptional job of making sure that the bikes were spot on every morning, often working late in to the night to make it happen. None of us could have done it without you and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending your race services to any aspiring Romaniac. Top notch all the way.
To everyone that followed the race from home, your support in the the lead up and during the race itself was invaluable. Every post of encouragement helps so much when you are so far away from home and the one’s you love. I drew a lot of energy from the knowledge that you were all watching and cheering from all corners of the globe. A special shout out to Grant Olsen, my riding mentor for more than 20 years, your voice saying “Never, ever, give up” was with me whenever the going got tough. Thanks for the messages that got me on the bike for the final day and through to the end.
While she’s not a Facebook user, I want to call out the support of my beautiful wife, Danielle. A lot of sacrifices were made over the past year in order to make this happen and she supported me every step of the way, despite it being against her natural instincts. I couldn’t have done it without your help babe.
Now, I just have to work out what is next!”
